Born and raised in New Jersey, I came to Tennessee via Tusculum College in 1990. I graduated with a B.A. in Fine Arts in 1995. From there, I pursued my Masters in Elementary Education from East Tennessee State University in 2002.
I have taught art at the high school level since 2000, with the first thirteen years being at Chuckey Doak and South Greene and since the 2013- 2014 school year full time at South Greene High School. Prior to high school I taught art for two years at Doak Elementary School. In addition to teaching in the public schools, I have also taught classes for the Upward Bound program at Tusculum College and as an instructor for M.A.D. camp at First Presbyterian Church in Greeneville. Each fall I decorate pumpkins and gourds for my friend, Vera Ann Myers, at Myers Pumpkin Patch in Bulls Gap.
In 2000 I married my husband Doug who is originally from Rogersville. We live in Mosheim with our four “fury” children Hobbes, Houdini, Becca, and Susie. I am an avid reader, HUGE Harry Potter fan, and love painting and working with clay. My newest art endeavor is cutting and creating stained glass pieces. As my two nieces say, I have the best job because I get to do “arts & crafts” all day.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns about my classes.
